Why you’ll love this recipe!

What ingredients do I need?
- Whole Milk Plain Greek Yogurt: Adds creaminess, protein, and creates the soft frozen texture.
- Creamy Cashew Butter: Mild, buttery flavor that closely mimics traditional cookie dough.
- Almond Flour: Creates the perfect cookie dough consistency while keeping the recipe no-bake.
- Honey: Naturally sweetens the filling while helping create a smooth texture.
- Vanilla Extract: Gives the bites their classic cookie dough flavor.
- Flaky Sea Salt: Balances the sweetness and enhances the chocolate flavor.
- Mini Chocolate Chips: Distribute chocolate evenly throughout every bite.
- Dark Chocolate: Creates a crisp chocolate shell around the creamy center.
- Coconut Oil: Thins the melted chocolate for easier dipping and a smoother coating.

Recipe Variations
- Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Bites: Swap the cashew butter for creamy peanut butter.
- Birthday Cake Cookie Dough Bites: Fold colorful sprinkles into the filling and coat with white chocolate.
- Double Chocolate Cookie Dough Bites: Mix 2 tablespoons cocoa powder into the filling before adding the chocolate chips.
- Chocolate Coconut Cookie Dough Bites: Stir in shredded unsweetened lightly toasted coconut and then finish with toasted coconut on top.
- Espresso Cookie Dough Bites: Add 1 teaspoon espresso powder to deepen the chocolate flavor.
Pro Tips
- After mixing the ingredients together, refrigerate the cookie dough for at least 20–30 minutes. This gives the almond flour time to absorb some of the moisture and makes the mixture much easier to scoop and it will hold its shape better.
- Freeze the cookie dough balls until completely firm before dipping. The colder the cookie dough bites are, the easier they’ll be to coat in melted chocolate. If they’re too soft, they may begin melting into the chocolate or lose their shape while dipping.
- Work in small batches. Only remove 5–6 bites from the freezer at a time while coating them in chocolate. Keep the remaining bites frozen so they stay firm throughout the dipping process.
- Use two forks for easy dipping. Place a frozen bite into the melted chocolate, gently roll it to coat, then lift it out and place on the parchment or silicone mat with two forks.
- Thin the chocolate if needed. If your melted chocolate starts becoming thick while you work, stir in an additional teaspoon of coconut oil. This creates a smoother, thinner coating that evenly covers each bite without becoming overly thick. For more tips on melting chocolate, see my How To Guide here.
- Let excess chocolate drip off before placing it on the parchment or silicone mat. Taking a few extra seconds to allow the excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl creates a thinner shell that cracks beautifully when you bite into it instead of being overly thick or heavy.
- Use a good-quality chocolate if you are able to. Since the chocolate coating is such a big part of this recipe, using a high-quality dark chocolate bar or premium chocolate chips will give you the best flavor and the smoothest finish.
- Sprinkle toppings before the chocolate sets. If you’d like to add flaky sea salt, chopped nuts, sprinkles, or shredded coconut, sprinkle them on immediately after dipping each bite while the chocolate is still wet so they stick. In other words, dip a bite and then immediately sprinkle on the toppings before moving to the next bite.
- Use a small cookie scoop for even portions. A 1-tablespoon or small cookie scoop keeps every bite the same size, which not only looks nicer but also helps them freeze evenly.
- Line your pan with parchment paper or a silicone mat. The frozen bites release much more easily from parchment or silicone than directly from a baking sheet, especially after dipping them in chocolate.
- Allow them to soften slightly before enjoying straight from the freezer. For the best texture, let the bites sit at room temperature for 2–5 minutes before eating. The chocolate shell will remain crisp while the center becomes soft, creamy, and perfectly reminiscent of cookie dough.
- Double the batch. These disappear quickly! Since they store well in the freezer for up to 3 months, consider making a double batch so you always have a healthier sweet treat ready whenever a craving strikes.

Can I Substitute?
Yes! Like always though, any substitutions made to the recipe can result in a change in texture and/or flavor.
- Cashew Butter: Substitute with almond butter, peanut butter, sunflower butter. It will likely change the taste a bit, but will still work well.
- Honey: Maple syrup can replace the honey.
- Dark Chocolate: Milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate can be used instead of dark chocolate.
- Mini Chocolate Chips: Finely chopped chocolate works in place of mini chocolate chips if you don’t have them.
Dietary Substitutions
- Gluten-Free: As written (verify your chocolate chips are certified gluten-free).
- Vegetarian: As written.
- Nut-Free: Try this recipe using sunflower butter in place of the cashew butter and oat flour in place of the almond flour.
- Dairy-Free: Use a thick dairy-free Greek-style yogurt and dairy-free chocolate chips.
- Refined Sugar-Free: Use refined sugar-free chocolate chips and dark chocolate sweetened with alternatives if desired.

Leftovers and Storage
- Freezer: Store in an airtight freezer-safe container with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking for up to 3 months.
- For the best texture, remove a bite from the freezer and let it rest on the counter for 2–5 minutes before enjoying. The chocolate shell will stay crisp while the center softens into a creamy cookie dough consistency.
- I don’t recommend storing these in the refrigerator for extended periods, as they’ll become too soft and lose that signature frozen texture.

But, I Still Have A Few Questions…
Can I use a different nut butter?
Yes! Cashew butter has the mildest flavor and creates the most classic cookie dough taste, but almond butter, peanut butter, or even sunflower seed butter all work. Just keep in mind each one will slightly change the flavor.
Can I use vanilla Greek yogurt instead of plain?
You can. The bites will be a little sweeter, so you may want to reduce the honey slightly.
Do these taste like Greek yogurt?
Not at all. The cashew butter, vanilla, honey, and chocolate completely mellow the tanginess of the yogurt, leaving a rich cookie dough flavor.
Can I make these dairy-free?
Yes. Use a thick dairy-free Greek-style yogurt along with dairy-free chocolate chips and chocolate.
Can I make these nut-free?
Yes. Substitute the cashew butter with sunflower seed butter and replace the almond flour with oat flour (the texture may be slightly softer).
Why is my mixture too soft to scoop?
Different brands of yogurt and nut butter vary in consistency. Simply chill the mixture longer or stir in another tablespoon or two of almond flour until it’s scoopable.
Can I skip the chocolate coating?
Absolutely. They’re delicious plain or simply drizzled with melted chocolate.
Can I use milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate?
Yes. Milk chocolate creates a sweeter treat, while dark chocolate balances the sweetness of the filling.
Can I add protein powder?
You can, but it will change the texture. If adding protein powder, you may need an extra tablespoon or two of yogurt to keep the filling creamy.
Can I make these ahead of time?
Yes! This recipe was made for that. They’re designed to be stored in the freezer, making them perfect for meal prep.
How long should I let them thaw before eating?
You only need about 2–5 minutes. This will give them the ideal creamy cookie dough texture.
Can kids help make these?
Absolutely! Kids love rolling the dough into balls and helping sprinkle toppings before the chocolate sets.

Frozen Chocolate Covered Cookie Dough Bites
Ingredients
Cookie Dough Filling
- 1 cup whole milk plain Greek yogurt
- ½ cup creamy cashew butter
- ½ cup almond flour
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon flaky sea salt
- ¾ –1 cup mini chocolate chips
Chocolate Coating
- 10-11 ounces dark chocolate chopped or chocolate chips
- 2 teaspoons coconut oil
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, beat together the Greek yogurt, cashew butter, almond flour, honey, vanilla extract, and flaky sea salt with a hand mixer until completely smooth and creamy.
- Fold in the mini chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
- Refrigerate the mixture for 20–30 minutes to firm it up, making it easier to scoop.
- Line a baking sheet or large plate with parchment paper.
- Using a small cookie scoop (about 1 tablespoon), scoop the mixture into bite-sized portions and roll into balls if needed. Place each bite onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Freeze the cookie dough bites for at least 1 hour, or until completely firm.
- Add the dark chocolate and coconut oil to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, at 50% power, stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted.
- Working with only a few frozen bites at a time, dip each one into the melted chocolate using two forks. Allow the excess chocolate to drip off before returning the bite to the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- If desired, sprinkle with flaky sea salt before the chocolate sets.
- Freeze for an additional 15–20 minutes, or until the chocolate shell is completely hardened.
- Transfer to an airtight freezer-safe container and store in the freezer until ready to enjoy.
Notes
- Let the bites sit at room temperature for 2–5 minutes before eating for the creamiest cookie dough texture.
- If the mixture feels too soft to scoop and hold it’s shape, then refrigerate it for another 15–20 minutes.
- For a thinner chocolate shell, stir an additional teaspoon of coconut oil into the melted chocolate.
- Keep most of the bites in the freezer while dipping to prevent them from softening.
- Sprinkle flaky sea salt, chopped nuts, sprinkles, or shredded coconut onto the chocolate before it hardens, if desired.
- A small cookie scoop helps create evenly sized bites that freeze uniformly.

Can you use nonfat Greek yogurt in this recipe ?
Hi! Yes, nonfat would work well. It may not be as creamy and might be a little tangier however. I hope you enjoy them.:)
