  • Fills your kitchen with all the best scents
  • Simple, small batch recipe
  • Good on EVERYTHING
  • Great for gifting
  • Natural cozy, comfort

What ingredients do I need?

  • Pears : The star of this jam — naturally sweet, tender, and slightly fragrant. Pears provide a silky texture and subtle sweetness that pairs beautifully with warm spices.
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice: Adds cozy, autumnal warmth with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves — perfect for fall flavor.
  • Cinnamon: Enhances the pear’s natural sweetness and adds depth and aroma to every bite.
  • Granulated Sugar: Provides balanced sweetness while helping the jam thicken as it cooks.
  • Light Brown Sugar : Adds a rich, caramel-like depth that complements the pears and spices.
  • Salt: Enhances all the flavors, balancing sweetness and highlighting the spices.
  • Water (if needed): Helps adjust consistency for a smooth, spreadable jam without thinning the flavor.

Recipe Variations

  • Vanilla-Infused: Add 1 tsp vanilla extract or the seeds from ½ a vanilla bean for a warm, aromatic flavor.
  • Honey Sweetened: Replace granulated sugar with ¼ cup honey for a natural, floral sweetness.
  • Ginger Kick: Add ½ tsp freshly grated ginger or ¼ tsp ground ginger for subtle warmth and depth.
  • Maple Pear Jam: Swap brown sugar for 2–3 tbsp maple syrup to enhance autumnal flavors.
  • Pear Butter Style: Cook the jam longer and puree until smooth for a silky pear butter consistency.
  • Spiced Citrus Twist: Add 1 tsp orange zest or a splash of orange juice for bright, fruity notes.
  • Boozy Upgrade: Stir in 1–2 tbsp brandy, rum, or bourbon after cooking for an adult-friendly twist.

Pro Tips

  • Use ripe, but firm pears like Bosc or Bartlett for the best texture and natural sweetness.
  • Taste as you cook — add more brown sugar or honey if your pears aren’t very sweet.
  • Add 1–2 tbsp water if the jam seems too thick while cooking; simmer longer if too thin.
  • For a smoother jam, use an immersion blender or food processor to puree after cooking.
  • Start with less pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon, then adjust to taste — spices intensify as the jam cools.

Leftovers and Storage

  • Store cooled jam in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.
  • Pour into freezer-safe containers or small jars, leaving ½ inch headspace. Freeze for up to 6 months.
  • Thaw overnight in the fridge before serving; stir well to recombine any separated juices.
  •  Enjoy cold on toast or muffins, or warm over pancakes, yogurt, ice cream, or cheesecake for a cozy fall treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe pears peeled, diced small
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 c. Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 c. Light brown sugar
  • Pinch salt
  • 1-2 tbsp water if needed to thin consistency

Instructions

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, add pears, spices, and sugars. Stir and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to simmer, cover, and cook for 10 minutes. Uncover and use a fork, masher, or back of your spatula to crush the pears as much as you can.
  • Continue to cook for another 5-10 minutes until reduced and very slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. If the jam seems very thick, you can add 1 -2 tbsp of water to help it thin out a little to get to the consistency you like. If you add water though make sure to simmer for another minute for it to combine well.
  • Remove from heat, cool, and then pour into glass containers for storage.

Notes

Store in fridge, in airtight container, up to 3 weeks.
Use ripe, but firm pears like Bosc or Bartlett for the best texture and natural sweetness.
